Indexing blog
Most technical writers I know treat indexing as a necessary evil, about on a par with cleaning toilets. That's unfortunate, because a good index can add a lot of value to a book or online help system. But doing a good index is hard - it's time consuming and it takes a lot of thought and understanding of your source material.
Seth Maislin's Indexing Blog is "A public exploration of indexing and information storage, retrieval, naming, and categorization. A spontaneous collection of ideas about ideas." Recent topics include Exemplary Indexes, Throughput in Indexing, and Notes on Automatic Indexing. I can't think of very many technical writers, myself included, who wouldn't benefit from reading this blog.
